Modern Requirements of 18-25 Years Old Adults Against Seating Furniture in Hungary

Abstract: This research examines the evolution of seating furniture in Hungary over the past 200 years by comparing three representative pieces. The first is the famous tulipános hope chest, also known as the wedding chest, a traditional piece of Hungarian furniture. The second example is a bench from 1965, designed by József Zalavári, a renowned Hungarian designer and university professor. The third piece is the Kuube smart street bench from 2020. These three pieces exemplify the changing requirements and preferences for seating furniture over time. To support this comparative analysis, an online questionnaire was conducted in April 2024 targeting young adults aged 18-25 years. The survey aimed to understand their preferences and expectations for modern seating furniture. It was distributed and completed through various Hungarian Facebook groups, where these respondents are regularly active. The primary focus of the questionnaire was to identify the most important factors for the next generation in terms of seating furniture usage. Surprisingly, the results indicated that respondents were not particularly concerned with recycling and renewable energy sources in furniture production. Instead, they prioritized multifunctionality and ergonomic design. These findings provide valuable insights for future designers and projects, highlighting the essential considerations for creating seating furniture that meets the needs and preferences of Generation Z and Alpha users. By understanding these trends, designers can develop innovative solutions that align with the evolving demands of younger generations.

Abstract: Public Art on campus is different from common public art. The public space on campus is an important environment to improve the quality of higher education. The campus environment should not only be beautiful and visual, but also enhance the campus cultural temperament, embody the campus spirit and have the function of cultural education. Based on the investigation and analysis of the cases of campus public art, this paper points out the general characteristics of campus public art, and points out the general problems in the theme and form. By taking the campus public art as the research object under the contemporary cultural background, this paper clarifies the new requirements of high-quality education on the campus public space in the new era, this paper points out the cultural connotation of campus public art and the artistic characteristics of campus public art in the new era, and puts forward a set of theoretical basis and design principles for public art to intervene in campus public space. The theoretical frameworks and practical art projects that emerge in this context provide valuable experiences and insights for the future development of campus public art. Public Art on campus not only enriches campus life but also promotes the holistic development of students, enabling them to grow into individuals with innovative spirits and a sense of humanistic care, influenced by both aesthetics and thought.

Cultural Memory in the Context of the Art Episteme of Ukrainian Cordocentrism

Abstract: The article attempts to comprehend the influence of cultural memory on the episteme of cordocentrism in the nation-building process in nowadays Ukraine, as well as to analyze the spontaneous activation and prove the effectiveness of the re-actualization of the gestalt of indigenous national consciousness, which manifests Ukrainian cordocentrism through the aesthetics of aísthēsis, and which, in the conditions of the Russian-Ukrainian hybrid war, becomes a reliable protection of cultural memory while preserving the sovereign existential unity of the nation. The activation of the updated art episteme in the domestic space coincides with the international search for alternatives to art forms that are derived from consumer capitalism, one of those alternatives being the paradigm conventionally named "New sincerity". This latter, stimulates cultural oscillation between the concepts of outdated, as of today, patterns of postmodernism and modernism. It is hypothesized that such transformations might allow the commodified society of consumerism to get rid of the limitations of the collective memory imposed onto it and cultivated by the market ideology of "paradigm wars" and the de-skilling of the art business in particular. These transformations might also allow the society to overcome the overwhelming civilizational crisis that has been much discussed in the recent decades in publications dedicated to art history and contemporaneity, as well as those dedicated to cultural and civilizational changes and strategies.
